The Mayor and his Cabinet have now formally approved the heavily revised scheme to ‘upgrade’ the A4018. I touched on this in my last newsletter. My colleagues and I are broadly supportive of most of the revised plans.
This might sound like a very boring subject but the content of the local plan guides the development of our City. It will help determine which planning applications pass and which fail. As such it is important that it is done right.
Thanks to everyone who attended our meetings and responded to the Consultation on the A4018 “improvements”. We welcome the Council climb down as a result of the overwhelming opposition to their original consultation.
Conservative Councillors have again met with Council Officers to discuss the ongoing concerns regarding unauthorised traveller encampments on the Downs and other nearby green spaces (such as Horfield Common).
Last week large sections of Central London were brought to a standstill due to the actions of a relatively small group of Climate Change Activists. They cost businesses millions of pounds and cause considerable misery for huge numbers of commuters.
Another bank holiday and yet another traveller encampment on the Downs. This is happening now with monotonous regularity and despite the fact the Council already maintains a transit site that travellers can use in North Bristol.
