FINAL PLANS SUBMITTED FOR CHARLTON COMMON

After quite a delay Redrow Homes have now published plans for what they intend to do with the Common. The common is actually in two sections - the majority to the right of Charlton Common Lane and a thinner slither to the left.

Redrow’s interest stems from their ownership of a field to the left of Charlton Common Lane and behind the thinner section of Common which they have permission to develop for 80 homes. In order to access the field they need to build an access road through the smaller section of common - BUT they then have to compensate the common with additional land to offset the loss.

Essentially though the plans show:

  • The access road
  • The land compensation
  • The future management and look of the common
  • The protection measures to stop people parking on the common (a concern raised by residents was the travellers might seek to gain access)

You can access their plans at the link below.
